Laboratory of Instruments is the laboratory in the Department of Architecture that was developed within the Adaptive Digital Campus (ADC) concept. This laboratory functions as a center for technology integration in architectural education, research, and community service (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi). With the advancement of artificial intelligence, digital modeling, and environmental simulation, this laboratory is designed to be a place for technology-based architectural exploration and experimentation.
Division
Laboratory of Instruments has five main division:
- Neuroarchitecture and Neurourban
- Building Physics
- (Re)production
- Workshop
- Computer laboratory
Focus
- Architectural experiments and simulations using advanced software and hardware such as 3D printers, EEG VR headsets, spatial analysis software, and energy modeling software.
- Neuroarchitectural and neurourban research**, which combines architecture with psychology and informatics to understand how design affects people.
- Building physics analysis, including studies of acoustics, lighting, ventilation, and efficient energy use.
- Development of digital fabrication methods, including 3D printing, laser cutting, and material modeling.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration between architecture, information technology, and science to support broader research.
Objectives
- To support Architectural Education in the Department of Architecture by providing facilities and technology to support research-based learning, and teaching the use of architectural software and digital technology in a professional manner.
- To improve the quality of research in the Department of Architecture by encouraging innovation in the fields of digital architecture, artificial intelligence, and the built environment, facilitating neuroarchitectural research to understand the impact of design on human psychology, and developing environmentally friendly technology for sustainable architectural design
- To become the centre for architectural technology development in the Department of Architecture by facilitating digital-based experiments and prototyping and becoming a place for certification and training in architectural technology for students and educators.
- To support community services in the Department of Architecture by developing research-based design solutions that can be applied on a real scale and providing research and training services for academics, practitioners, and related industries.
